Week 42 - The Hazelnut Margarita
Tis the season for fun festive drinks and week 42 did not disappoint!  I tried the Hazelnut Margarita for some family and friends while I was home in NY for Thanksgiving.  When I think of Hazelnut, I generally think of flavored coffee or coffee creamer.  Initially, I was worried this would be a cream based drink, but I was pleasantly surprised to discover Frangelico liquor.  It is a hazelnut flavored liquor and it is pretty fantastic.


The drink went together easily and smelled amazing.  I think the smell of the drink may have been better than the drink itself.  The drink is shaken over ice.  I added brown sugar to the rim.  It turned out to be a great tasting festive drink. My family loved it and that made it all the better.   If you are looking for a fun drink to add to a holiday party, I highly recommend this.


Lesson Learned - It's fun to create drinks, but it's even more fun to watch others enjoy them.  It was so much fun to have my family share in my drink making adventure and it was so rewarding that they enjoyed the drink so much. 


Recipe
2 ounces tequila
1 1/2 ounces Frangelico
1/2 ounce lemon juice
light brown sugar for garnish

Month 2 - Hill Billy Bourbon Can you believe it is almost March?  I'm sliding in my February drink just in the nick of time.  I celebrated a birthday a few weeks ago and was given Hill Billy bourbon as a gift.  What better way to celebrate getting older than drinking?!?  My February bourbon is Hill Billy bourbon and my drink of choice is the Hot Toddy. Here Comes the Sun - Week 4

Week 4 - The Sunrise Margarita I'm a few weeks into the new year and my new hobby.  I've started to set up things like this blog and my new Instagram account - JessieOnTheRocks.  Side note - don't forget to follow me on Instagram.  It's apparently how I now define my self-worth!  I've never watched a number more carefully or with such excitement in my life.  I am of course kidding, but in all honesty, it is satisfying to see that people think my adventure is interesting enough to follow.  While setting up my Instagram, I began to follow others that enjoy making cocktails.  I noticed that many people use interesting and unique glasses to prepare drinks.  It occurred to me that I do not have very many different types of glasses in which to make my margaritas.  I have a few that I have collected over the years and I enjoy them very much, but if I am going to do this challenge for a whole year, I'm going to have to up my glass game.  I decided to head to Hom

Ain't Life Grand - Week 11

Week 11 - The Grand Gold Margarita Many of you already know that I grew up in Western New York.  Much of my family, including my parents and sister still live there and I love it with my whole heart.  Some days, it feels like I just left New York to start a new adventure in Florida.  However, today marks my 5 year anniversary of moving to Florida.  I miss home something awful sometimes, but Jacksonville also suits me and as each year passes, it feels more like home.  It also helps to have some pretty great new Florida friends and a steady stream of NY visitors:)  My parents have been enjoying the snowbird life the last few years and spend a few months during the dead of winter down in Florida with me.  While they are down here, they enjoy doing something I simply can't wrap my head around - Flea markets.  I tease them mercilessly about flea markets being a past time for old people:)  They remain totally unphased by my teasing and happily visit different markets all over Fl
