Week 40 - The Cinnamon Margarita
Tis the season - like it or not!  If you have watched TV or visited a store in the last few weeks, you are well aware that the holiday season is upon us once again.  I'm still trying to figure out where this year has gone.  It flew by in a flash of memories, accomplishments, heartaches and celebrations.  Life is a wild ride sometimes, so we need to remember to enjoy the little things in between all the appointments, meetings and obligations.  I'm doing that tonight by enjoying my week 40 drink!  Since the holidays are upon us, I thought it would be festive to kick off the season with the Cinnamon Margarita.


This drink makes me nervous because it has a milk/cream base.  If you have followed my previous posts, you will know the other drinks I have made like this have not been my favorite.  However, I'm feeling festive today and remain hopeful that this one might just change my mind.


This drink called for light cream, tequila, vanilla schnapps, simple syrup and cinnamon.  In hindsight, I should have mixed the cinnamon with sugar for the rim, but I didn't think of it at the time.  I sprinkled some cinnamon on top of the drink to make it look fancy & festive.   It turned out to be a very pretty and festive looking drink.  If you are looking for a fun holiday cocktail, this works great.  However, I'm sad to admit that though the cinnamon helped some, it still wasn't a good taste for me and I didn't love it.


Lesson Learned - Sometimes when you don't have a taste for something, you can't make yourself love it!  I definitely tried, but I think I'm going to throw in the towel on the milk/cream based drinks.  I feel like I gave it more than a fair shot, but it's just not for me.  There are so many other choices that I love, I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything.  Cheers!

2 ounces light cream
1 ounce tequila
1 ounce vanilla schnapps
1 ounce simple syrup
1/2 ounce cinnamon
cinnamon for garnish if desired

Here Comes the Sun - Week 4

Ain't Life Grand - Week 11

Week 11 - The Grand Gold Margarita Many of you already know that I grew up in Western New York.  Much of my family, including my parents and sister still live there and I love it with my whole heart.  Some days, it feels like I just left New York to start a new adventure in Florida.  However, today marks my 5 year anniversary of moving to Florida.  I miss home something awful sometimes, but Jacksonville also suits me and as each year passes, it feels more like home.  It also helps to have some pretty great new Florida friends and a steady stream of NY visitors:)  My parents have been enjoying the snowbird life the last few years and spend a few months during the dead of winter down in Florida with me.  While they are down here, they enjoy doing something I simply can't wrap my head around - Flea markets.  I tease them mercilessly about flea markets being a past time for old people:)  They remain totally unphased by my teasing and happily visit different markets all over Fl
