Pour Some Sugar On May - Week 19

Image
Week 19 - The Fruit Cocktail Margarita Something fabulous and unexpected happened this week and I have to shamelessly brag about it for a minute.  I surpassed 500 followers on Instagram!  How cool is that?  Who knew that my silly drink making adventure would grow into this?  I remember hitting 75 followers and thinking I had "arrived" lol.   Life is certainly an unpredictable adventure.  Thanks to everyone for the support.  Cheers! 10 years ago this week, my best friend gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Megan and dubbed me "Aunt Jessie".  It has been one of my life's greatest joys to be a part of Megan's life and watch her grow up.  I also rock at being an auntie, so win-win!  Last weekend, Megan had a sleepover with 11 girls for her 10th birthday party.  I volunteered to travel to Charleston and help chaperone the party - what on earth was I thinking?  I kid, I kid.  It was a fun weekend, ...

Kiwi Be Friends? - Week 18

Image
Week 18 - The Kiwi Margarita One of the best parts of living in Jacksonville, is the second weekend in May, when The Players Championship comes to town.  Even if you don't like golf, it's a pretty fun event to attend and the whole city gets excited.  I planned my whole Sunday around watching the last round of the tournament on TV.  This is why I find it most ironic that today, of all days, my cable decided to go out.  Seriously life!?!  I have called Comcast no less than 5 times - great news, it should be fixed by 9:00 pm tonight.  Insert eye roll here as the tournament ends by 7:00 pm.  I was able to unplug and re-plug in the cable box every 20 min or so and I could watch between the moments the TV froze.  It was just like being there...except that it wasn't and I definitely had to check my red headed temper a few times.  To take my mind off the annoying cable mishap, I decided to put my energy into margarita ...

Grape Expectations - Week 17

Image
Week 17 - The White Grape Margarita Happy Cinco de Mayo two days late!!  I did have a margarita to celebrate the day, but forgot to take a photo.  I've been in Washington, DC for a conference all week and just got back.  Our nation's capital is awesome and I had the best time, but the trip didn't leave a lot of time to write and publish this week's post.  I usually give myself a week cushion, but I used that up in the craziness of life over the last two weeks.  I did manage to make the drink before I left last weekend, but I didn't get the post written.  Good thing I'm the boss of this blog - it's hard to fire myself:) This week's drink of choice is the White Grape Margarita.  I didn't really have any expectations with this drink.  I went into it with the idea that I would just see how it goes.  I'm far enough into this experiment to know that sometimes drinks surprise...

Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy - Week 16

Week 16 - The Pink Lemonade Margarita Girls weekends are one of life's greatest treasures.  This weekend, I met up with up with my friends Julie and Laura in Amelia Island, Florida.  Julie and I have known each other since we were babies and Laura joined our group in college.  There's only one things we love more than each other - The New York Yankees!  This trip was one of our rare trips that didn't involve a baseball game.  We decided to try Airbnb for the first time - I know, welcome to the 21st century already!  As much as I travel, I generally only stay in hotels.  Airbnb was out of my comfort zone, but ended up being an awesome experience.  We rented the house with the intention of spending time with each other and making lots of margaritas!  The house was perfect, the weather was amazing and the company was even better than that.  Sometimes getting away for a few days changes your perspective on life ...

I feel so Blue - Week 15

Image
The Blue Margarita - Week 15 It's been a busy few weeks and this was my last weekend with my parents before they head back north for the summer.  Because of all this, we decided to take it easy today.  We stayed in, watched golf and drank margaritas! It was a perfect Sunday.  I decided to try the Blue Margarita for week 15. This Margarita was super easy to put together and turned out to be a really pretty blue (shocking I know) color.  The blue coloring comes from the Blue Curacao ingredient.   I have never used Blue Curacao before, so it was fun to try a new ingredient.  This drink also allowed me to use a new glass I picked up a few weeks ago to complete the drink.  The glass wasn't anything fancy, but it worked great for this drink.  I also decided to use my cube ice mold.  As I've mentioned in prior posts, there is something satisfying about using the perfect shaped ...

Take a Pitcher it Lasts Longer - Week 14

The Sanga Rita - Week 14 True friends are one of life's greatest treasures and if you are lucky enough to find a few over the course of your life, consider yourself lucky.  I have the good fortune of having a few of these friends and I am so thankful.  However, now that I live in Florida, I often have to travel to see these friends or if I'm lucky, they come to me every once in a while.   I consider my friend Amy among one of those people.  I was thrilled when she said she was visiting Florida.  I happily agreed to drive to where she was staying and spend some time with her.  She and her mom, who I have also grown to know over the years, requested that we make a margarita together during my visit.  I excitedly agreed as I know Amy's Mom is a margarita fan - just like me!  However, I should have thought it through before I agreed.  I realized that I needed to bring my drink making paraphernalia as well as all the liquor and ingredient...

Blurred Limes - Week 13

Week 13 - The Margatini    The plan for this week was the Pink Lemonade Margarita, but I have been travelling for the last 6 days straight - 4 states and 5 cities in 6 days. I can't even tell you what time zone I am in right now. With the 10 minutes I had to spend at the grocery store this evening, I totally forgot to pickup 7up which was instrumental in the Pink lemonade margarita recipe, so I had to go to Plan B.  Plan B was of course very well thought out.  By this I mean, it involved frantically searching through my cupboards and the book to find a recipe that matched up with things I already had at the house.  Thank goodness for The Margatini! This will do just fine for week 13. I have several visitors in town this week (It's that time of year) so I needed to make five versions of the drink.  Thanks to my previous shopping binges (see week 4 ) and my parents recent flea market adventures (see week 11 ) I had 5 p...
